So far, my roommate (Katie) and I have pretty much gone through everything 2 girls living on their own for the first time could experience.
- First night living here, we cleaned our floor with Clorox wipes because we didn't have any cleaner to mop it with
- Our oven smells like gas when we use it (told my super, twice, so now if I blow up my building, its not my fault)
- Our oven also doesn't fit full size cookie sheets
- realized this twice in two days...had to pick up our nachos with 4 spatulas (yes we have 4 spatulas) to transfer them to a smaller sheet
- Our shower has 2 temperatures: scalding and luke warm
- Our shower rod fell down and was lop-sided for at least a week
- Our radiators are fairly scary
- It cost us $80 to have a cable wire run through my kitchen into my living room, I could have done it in 5 min.
- Between the two of us we spent 3.5 days home waiting for Verizon to set up wifi
- Verizon sent me an email telling me that my wifi was now set up and I would start being billed as of that date..I called them and told them that I was not set up and refused to pay for a service I wasn't receiving..they sent me to a representative in India. He "credited" me 5 days (my internet finally was hooked up 5 days later)
- Our electric bill came, it was $700...that was a problem.
Other then those adventures things have been pretty cool:
- I drop my laundry off to a little chinese man and come back 5 hours later to the most nicely folded clothes I've ever seen...all for $16 on average.
- Bars are open til 4am
- All food is open til at least 4am
- I live above a 24hr diner
- Umm...taxis?
- Everything delivers for free
- We get our groceries delivered
- Walking everywhere makes you lose lots of weight
All in all, its been a great experience so far! Have a few little stories now, but I'm sure lots more to come!! Stay tuned :-)
